Fun Activities in Math!

Ms. Tibbitts has been planning lots of fun activities in math when working on area and perimeter.

To show how perimeter changes as shapes are connected, she shared a picture book and students moved manipulatives to show how the seating and perimeter would change.

Area/Perimeter Robots
To demonstrate their knowledge of area and perimeter, students created a robot with specific measurements.

What's Happening? February 15, 2015

It has been a while since we have added information or pictures to this website. Here are just a few recent pictures.
Book talks make the students excited to read a new book. This week we had Paper things and Fish in a Tree.

Ms. Tibbitts shows the students the size of different liquid measurements.

These students discuss what is happening in their books.

Excited about a new series!

Reading time! Look who got to read Paper Things first!

This group read One for the Murphy's and can't stop talking about it.

Our Classroom Library Grows!

Recently our class received approximately $450 in brand new books! Using an online donation site for teachers called Donorschoose.org, we were able to submit a request for new books. Then parents, family members and anonymous donors donated to our project. Thanks to everyone's generosity we were fully funded in five days and received our books two days later!

New books provide excitement and help with student motivation to read. The kids were excited to say the least and the books have been flying around the classroom.

We would like to thank all of the donors who helped us get these new books. We truly appreciate your support.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Day!

On Wed, November 5 our classes celebrated the release of the newest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, The Long Haul.  A copy for each student was provided by the donations of generous parents and with bonus points earned through parent orders through our monthly book orders. We appreciate your support!
The students learned how to draw Greg Heffley from the creator of the diary of a Wimpy kid series.

Then they got their books and had time to read them alone or with their friends.
