Harry Potter Fan Club

At the request of some Harry Potter fans, we have started an informal Harry Potter Fan Club.  We have discussed the books and recruited new "Potter Heads" to try the series.  

On Tuesday we ate lunch together and went on line to try some quizzes.  A favorite quiz asked questions to see which character you are most like. 

Fun With Silent Letters

This week the students did some work with silent letters.  Silent letters an make spelling difficult and frustrating. We read a book called Silent Letters, Loud and Clear. 

We did some predicting.....

and summarizing. 

Later in the week they had some fun writing messages without using the silent letters.  They loved the idea of getting permission to misspell words on purpose.
