Since readers make plans and share their reading lives, this week the students made New Year's Reading Resolutions for 2016 and planned for vacation reading.
The students should be bringing home a copy of their New Year's Reading Resolutions. If not, they will finish after the break. Please post these up at home and help your child reflect and refine their resolutions as necessary. We will be reflecting at school as well.
I have set up a Padlet wall for our classes to post what they have been reading, books they received as gifts and reactions to what they are reading if they would like to over the break. I will be posting my reading as well. Click here for the link.
Happy Holidays and Happy Reading!!

Parent Readers!
November was Picture Book Month. We read tons of great picture books at school and several parents were able to come in and read too!
Here are just a few of the books we read.
I would like to thank the parents that were able to come in and read to the class. The students and I enjoyed it very much!

Diary of a Wimpy Kid Day!!!
I am not sure why the formatting is strange on this post, but it won't change, sorry.
We all had a blast celebrating the release of the 10th Diary of a Wimpy Kid book, Old School. We watched a couple of things from the Wimpy Kid Youtube channel and learned how to draw Greg Heffley.
We waited for the UPS truck to deliver the books in the afternoon. Then we had a big block of reading time with our new books! The students were thrilled to have their own copies to keep. Thanks to all our amazing parents for supporting our enthusiasm for reading!

What's Been Happening-Week of Oct. 19, 2015
We have been busy learning together at school. Here are just a few thing that have been happening.
Movement Break for Ms. Tibbitts' class before social studies.
Ms. Tibbitts' students get some practice with using an atlas.
Our current read aloud: Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt-part of the Global Read Aloud
The author reads the first chapter to us (on video).
We Skyped with a class in Illinois.
There is LOTS of reading going on...
...and talking about books!
See how they've grown....grass?!
Check out these adorable projects. The kids planted these on the second day of school. Thanks to Mrs. Arsenault, Mrs. Krouse, and Mrs. Douglass for helping to put these together.
