Imagine you are a girl who has to dress like a man to join the army and go to war.
Well that’s what Deborah had to do.
The Secret Soldier is a historical fiction book that tells of Deborah’s adventures during the American Revolution. She wanted to fight for her country, but women were not allowed to join the army. So she disguised herself as a man and fought for the Patriots. She was a good soldier.
If you like adventure books with bravery, cleverness and a hard working character, then this is the right book for you!

That's a brave character you have! I always wonder if I could be that brave... would you be able to do what she did? I think it's cool that you are reading books about these historical events. We can learn a lot from these characters. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine how brave she must have been. I love adventure books and your review has me wanting to find this one. I want to find out if she was ever discovered! Sounds like a hero to me. Thanks for a great review.
ReplyDeleteOhhh, this sounds so good! It reminds me of the Disney movie Mulan. War is scary, so how brave of Deborah to join the army, especially in disguise. Did anyone ever discover that she was girl dressed like a man? Wait, don't tell me. I want to read it and find out for myself!
ReplyDeleteYour review makes me want to read more about Deborah- I love reading books with strong female characters who inspire me- makes me wonder what I can do in some way to be brave and work hard to fight for something I believe in.
